Nursery Care Assistant -

Do you have one night per week once a month?

If the answer is yes, then come and show the love of Jesus to our children, while enabling parent(s) to attend Chapel.  Chapel times are Tuesdays and Thursdays  from 6:45 to 7:45 - volunteers must be available from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  A team of 3 volunteers per night is needed to play games, read stories and have fun with the younger tykes.  Call your Sunday School friends, ladies groups, and college age children and advise them of this wonderful opportunity to share some of your experiences with our kids.

School Supplies Interviewer/Office Assistant -

Volunteering during School Supplies:

Have the opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ with families, while assisting with each step of the application process.  July 25 thru August 17, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 pm;  August 22-31, 12:30 p.m. 4:00 p.m.

Office Assistants must be MAAC trained. (training dates TBD and will be provided by MAAC)

Job Coach Assistant -

Expand Career Development services to individual candidates in preparation for and during their God-centered employment journey, assisting them to become self-supporting contributors to society and the Christian community. Financial counsel concerning debt, give basic Microsoft Word training,  assist with cover letter & resume creation, assist with online job searches and applications. Time commitment - 1.5 hours per client a week for 12 months.

(M-F 9:00-11:00 for life skill classes) (Chapel times are Tues and Thurs from 6:45 to 7:45 - volunteer must be available from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.)

Learning Center Academic Assistant -

Empower men in our Men's Center with the academic/ career skills necessary for them to contribute to society and to the Christian community. Administer academic assessments, monitor classroom of computer stations, answer questions, possible tutoring. Must be male. (afternoon and evening hours M-F)  Urgent need for a Wednesday night volunteer from 5 to 7 pm.

Assist women and/or men in our Family Center as they go through computer programs to improve academic skills. Must be female. (afternoons M-F)

Camp CUMCITO Health Screenings -

We need medical students, doctors and nurses to perform health screenings for our campers before each camp session.  If you are available on Saturdays from 8 am to 2:00 p.m. , please assist us with getting our kids ready for camp.  All nurses and doctors must have a Missouri license.

Barber/Hairstylist - Men's Shelter -

Provide free hair-care cuts at the Men's Shelter for overnight guests.  Ministering to the needs of poor and homeless men by increasing self-esteem with hair care and grooming skills.

Public Speaker -

To represent City Union Mission at speaking opportunities.  To enable City Union Mission to accept more speaking engagements to present its ministry creating a broader base of community awareness.

Fitness and Nutrition Instructor -

Man needed to train men in nutrition and physical fitness, promoting healthy lifestyle disciplines and choices. Provide fitness and nutrition instruction, developing a health plan and program, implementation and oversight of program.

Library Assistant - Youth Center -

Impact children's lives by assisting the Education Coordinator in setting up children's library and by being involved in the upkeep and progression of the library as it develops.  Filing books, updating computer book inventory, helping in general library needs.

Assistant to Family Shelter Manager -

Assist the operations of the shelter in ministry of the guests by meeting their spiritual, physical and emotional needs.  Assist manager with evening duties.

Family Night Host -

Bring families together and instill the importance of family time once a week.  Provide entertainment (e.g., approved movie, snack, drama, special music, board games).

To assist City Union Mission staff by transporting Men's Ministry clients to appointments that are critical to a client's progress through the recovery and discipleship process (doctor's appointments, court dates, job interviews, etc.).

Interviewer - Community Assistance -

Share the gospel of Jesus Christ and give encouragement concerning spiritual growth by interviewing clients, sharing the gospel and filling out clothing room tickets and furniture vouchers.

School Supplies Pantry Worker -

Fill an order for food from our pantry, and restock shelves when necessary.

School Supplies Care Handler -

ATTENTION MEN:

A great opportunity for men's groups (15 per day, 16+ years old) July 31 - August 1 and August 21. 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Need to be capable of climbing up and down stairs and carrying boxes. Assist in one or both of the following:

July 31st-Load truck with school supplies stores at our Lexington 2nd Chance Thrift Store and August 1st, unload at Family Center for sorting and distribution.

August 21st-Load truck with remaining school supplies at Family Center and unload at Lexington 2nd Chance Thrift Store for storage.

Tot Lot Tea Party -

Tea Parties are held every day for Tot Lot from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  This is a great opportunity for the residents of Warsaw and the neighboring cities.

Do you remember the fun you had at your tea party?  Come and make this a special time for our little ones beginning Monday, June 23 and ending Friday, July 26th.

Please Note:  The last week of Tot Lot begins on Tuesday, July 22nd instead of Monday, July 21st.  

Need 2 volunteers to bring the cookies and juice, set up the Tea Party, serve it, and clean up afterwards.

Carnival at Primary Camp -

Carnival at Tot Lot Camp -

School Supplies Childcare Provider -

Need 1 Adult per day, 18+ years old.  July 28-August 15, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Enable parents to complete the interview process and hear the Gospel without distraction. Supervise Childcare Assistants.  Provide supplies for the day (i.e. videos, sit-down games, art projects, books, Bible stories).

School Supplies Clothing Distributor -

Need 2 Adults per day, 18+ years old; or 1 Adult and 1 child 12+ years old.  July 28 - August 15; August 20-August 29,  10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Assist client in finding underwear, socks and uniforms for each child eligible to receive a backpack.

School Supplies Supply Packer -

Need 10 per day, 16+ years old from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  August 1-8 and August 20.

Fill backpacks with school supplies to meet grade level requirements and sizes. (Family Center gym)

On Augustt 20th, will pack any additional backpacks that are needed and the hours will be 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and will only need 5 people to assist.

School Supplies Distribution Day -

Need 8 to 10 volunteers (16+ years old unless accompanied by an adult) August 19th from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  Need 6 volunteers from 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Hand out filled backpacks to children.  Have the incredible joy of seeing smiling faces as the children receive their new school supplies. (Family Center Gym)

Carnival at Junior Camp -

Tot Lot Banquet and Awards -

Tot Lot banquet night celebrates each camper and their special contribution to camp.  The dates for the banquets are: 

Tot Lot 1 - Friday, June 27th

Tot Lot II -  Friday, July 18th

Tot Lot III -  Friday, July 25th.

Need 2 to 3 volunteers to bring decorations to decorate the dining room.  Also bring a prepared meal and help the kitchen crew to serve it.  Come help them celebrate this special time in their young lives.  Dare to make a difference.

Clean the Camp -

DO YOU LIKE TO CLEAN? IF SO, WE HAVE THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY.

Each Saturday, beginning June 28th, we need at least 15 volunteers to clean staff and camper quarters, wash linens and tidy the camp for the next set of campers.

This is a great opportunity for large groups.

Camp CUMCITO Bus Monitors -

Do you have a Monday or a Saturday available?  If so, come ride to camp with the children on Monday, having fun and discussing the week ahead.  Arrive at City Union Mission's Family Center at 7:30 a.m.  to help with the kids. You will have lunch at the camp and then return to the Family Center around 3:00 p.m.  The Family Center is located at 1310 Wabash, Kansas City, MO 64127.

On Saturday, plan to arrive at the Family Center at 6:45 a.m., ride to camp to pick up the kids and return to the Family Center around 12:30 p.m.

We need 5 to 15 bus monitors depending on the number of kids attending camp that week.  Come and share the experience with the kids.

Monday, June 23rd and Saturday, June 28th - Junior Camp and Tot Lot Camp

Monday, June 30th and Saturday, July 5th - Teen Girls' Camp

Monday, July 14th and Saturday, July 19th - Pre-Teen Camp and Tot Lot Camp

Tuesday, July 22 and Saturday, July 26th - Primary Camp and tot Lot Camp

Monday, July 28th and Saturday, August 2nd - Teen Boys' Camp

Luggage Helpers for Camp -

Each Saturday as the kids return from camp, we need help unloading luggage, and help with organization of parents.  Beginning July 5, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Data Entry Assistant -

Seeking a volunteer that loves performing repetitive tasks.  The volunteer is responsible for  inputting data into our Raiser's Edge database.  The volunteer must be bondable and have good computer skills.  Training will be provided on Raiser's Edge.   The hours are 8 am to 4 pm, Monday thru Friday.  Would prefer someone that can volunteer a minimum of 4 hours at a time.

Need 3 Adults per day, 16+ years old; July 28 - August 15, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Assist with client flow, greeting and taking clients from one station to the next.

Serve Camp CUMCITO Teen Girls Banquet Night -

On this special banquet night, Teen Girl camp participants enjoy dressing up and having their tables served.

4-6 Volunteers are needed on Friday, July 4, from 5:00p – 7:30p in Warsaw, MO to decorate the hall, wait tables (wearing slacks and tie), and bus tables afterward.

Volunteers are invited to come early to observe various afternoon activities (swimming, swim lessons, choir, crafts, free play, lake activities) or even earlier to observe morning activities (chapel, trust course, crafts.) They are also welcome to stay afterward for evening chapel (awards, character appreciation, choir performance, etc.)
