Rebuilding Lives Is What We Do!

March 2, 2007, City Union Mission broke ground on construction of our new long-term men’s recovery facility. Currently, each week we have to turn away 20-30 men who want to join our Christian Life Program (CLP) because we don’t have the space. The new 35,000-square-foot facility will allow us to double the number of men in the CLP from 50 to 100.

“We’ve been looking forward to this day, knowing completion of this project means we’ll be able to help more people than ever before put the pieces of their lives back together and become productive citizens,” Rev. Dan Doty says.

Former Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes adds that the new facility will provide “the chance for many additional men to receive the kind of support, care and opportunity they deserve.”

The March 2 groundbreaking was the first step in the larger Rebuilding the Walls that Rebuild Lives Capital Campaign that includes renovations to the Mission’s Men’s Center, Family Center and Camp CUMCITO.
