Annual Report

The Word

Welcome, Bret Kroh

City Union Mission’s Staff and Board of Directors welcome Bret Kroh as Formal Volunteer Administrator. “I have always been impressed with ministering through City Union Mission,” Bret says. “This is getting in and doing the work that Jesus Christ asked the church to do. It requires getting very entangled in people’s lives.”

Bret joined the Mission in April 2007, after serving 11 years as Youth Pastor and four years as Associate Pastor at Open Door Baptist, Kansas City, Kansas.

As Formal Volunteer Administrator, one of Bret’s first goals is to spread the word that everyone has the ability to be a volunteer. “People often have an internal fear that they don’t have anything to offer. We need to make them aware of tangible, practical things they can do within their skills, gifts and areas of compassion.”

Bret says he rests in Jesus’ words in Matthew 25 as he embarks on his new position at the Mission: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.

Bret received his degree in speech communications from Tennessee Temple University.  In June, he and his wife Diane celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. The couple has two children.
