Biking for the Lord

Sunday, May 6, about 120 motorcycle enthusiasts braved a torrential downpour and participated in the 18th annual Bikers with a Mission Run for the Homeless (BWAM). These dedicated men and women with hearts for the homeless completed the 100-mile ride, raising nearly $9,500 for City Union Mission.

Teddy Bitner presents Dan Doty a check from our faithful road warriors.

Ray Schneider won two Midwest Airline tickets, courtesy of Midwest Airlines, for the most cash brought in. Jim Buchner received a beautiful custom-made “Big Bowie” knife donated by W.M. Knives for the second highest cash contributions.

Thanks, Ray, Jim and all the other bikers for your compassion!

Each year, the Mission has about $25,000 in unexpected expenses such as baby formula, bus passes for job interviews, costs for obtaining medical and court records, utility assistance and eyeglasses.  In the past, funds from BWAM have covered these non-budgeted needs. So, we still need your help!

Bikers, if you missed the run because of the rain, it’s not too late to give! Pick a sunny day to enjoy the 100-mile run, then turn in your cash pledges to City Union Mission by July 31. Or simply make a gift today by visiting our Web site, clicking on “Donate Now” and designating BWAM.
