We have a great deal of freedom in the United States, but each of us can enjoy even greater freedom through a relationship with God’s Son. This is what the ministry of City Union Mission is all about. As we feed the hungry, clothe the needy and shelter the homeless, we explain to them how to have true freedom in Christ.
It’s extremely satisfying to see the gratitude of those who receive help here. But it’s even greater to see a person who has wandered aimlessly for years, bent on self-destruction, finally become free. With Christ, they have a new ability to deal with struggles and hardships, and are no longer dominated by sin.
People become homeless for many reasons some as a result of tough circumstances like job loss, others because of bad personal choices like addiction. Some who come here for food and shelter don’t yet want to change. But many are ready to find true freedom.
The most exciting aspect of our ministry is seeing people understand that they can have freedom from sin and freedom from the past. Our life-skills classes, counseling and educational opportunities help our guests stand firm in their new freedom in Christ Jesus and no longer desire to be subject to a yoke of slavery. We need your help to do this!
