From the Desk of Dan Doty
We recently held a tent rally at our Men’s Center so representatives from area churches could see firsthand just how crowded our shelter truly is. This chronic overcrowding prompted the Mission to begin a capital campaign about a year ago, called Building the Walls that Rebuild Lives.
Although there were fewer churches at the rally than we desired, those in attendance left excited to move forward with the campaign. Please, please, make sure your church plans to help us with this campaign! To receive campaign information and materials, contact Evie at (816) 474-9380, ext. 1497 or Evie@cumission.org.
City Union Mission has always considered itself as an arm of the church. We want to be the bridge that goes from you and your church to the homeless and poor. Although the ministry of individual churches in not primarily to care for the poor, it is the responsibility of the church to see that these things are done in the name of Jesus Christ. That's where we fit in: We offer a bridge to new life.
As the demand for our ministry increases, so does our need for co-laborers who can provide volunteer, financial and prayer support. If your church does not already have a Church Ambassador to City Union Mission, would you consider volunteering to become one? To learn more, please contact Sharon at (816) 474-9380, ext. 1469 or Sharon@cumission.org.
Thank you for all you do to support our ministry! You are truly a blessing from God’s hand.
