Cindy W.

I Wasn't Hit by Lightning! I Just Needed a Job!

Angelica

Angelica became homeless due to financial difficulties and being addicted to cocaine. On top of having problems with the drug dealers in my neighborhood; there were too many people she knew that could influence her into making the wrong choices that would lead to chaos.

Johnny E.

"The guys from the streets, they know me. They know what my life was like. I didn’t care about anybody or anything. They see the difference and thankfully, some of them come to talk with me about what Jesus has done and still is doing in my life."

CW

“At 5 or 6 I received a strong sense from God that I am called to be a missionary. I didn’t know till much later that it would not be overseas, but rather here in the US at City Union Mission.

Brad

Brad thought of himself as a Christian. He had the head knowledge and even said prayers, all while doing drugs and alcohol.

Larry P.

For some of the men who struggle with addictions being in the city atmosphere is counter-productive to their recovery. Therefore, Opportunity Farm, near Warsaw, Missouri, provides an alternative in a peaceful country setting.

Craig

Life was going really great for Craig. He had been raised in a religious home, so always wanted to be a good person. That was part of what motivated him to go to school to become a pharmacist. He wanted to help people and felt like this was a good way. He married and the couple soon had 3 daughters. He appeared to be on the top of the world.

Sam

Sam was born and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi. “My mother was a bible believing Christian,” Sam says. “She was always doing good things for other people. And I know she prayed and worried over me till the day she died. I tried to keep what I was doing, the drug dealing, from her, but she knew. I regret that more than anything else.”
