About our City Union Ministries Blog (History): Our Executive Director, Dan Doty, shares through his blog how the Mission was first woven into the fabric of Kansas City beginning in 1924. The first blog is titled City Union Mission - 'Brothel' Beginnings, from a 1934 Kansas City Star article. This portion ran from April 6 - 25. Beginning April 26, Dan shares from a book written by Juliana Vanderberg Larocco, granddaughter of the Mission's founders, titled, I Never Asked for the Easy Way. Each blog is a short, quick read. We would like to encourage you to take some time to read through these and see evidence of God's hand at work in the lives of those who started it all. For nearly 87 years City Union Mission has been caring for 'God's human sparrows', providing not only food and shelter to the poor and the homeless, but showing them the love of Jesus though the many programs and services we offer.
