Volunteer Center

Volunteers come to City Union Mission to join us in ministry to the poor or homeless. We see volunteers as God's provision to further our ministry to our clients. Volunteers who wish to work directly with clients must be prepared to share the Gospel message. Those who are not comfortable with this may be assigned to other essential tasks.

  There are several ways you can participate in volunteer service with City Union Mission:

 

                   

High Impact Volunteers

Are you interested in more specialized work that is done on a recurring basis? Please consider our High-Impact Volunteer program.  A High-Impact Volunteer at City Union Mission is someone who has:

  • Sensed God’s calling to use his/her God-given gifts, skills and talents to serve the poor or homeless of Kansas City.
  • Sensed God’s leading to partner with City Union Mission to fulfill the Great Commandment of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and making disciples.
  • Made a 6 to 12 month commitment to regularly serve, on a weekly or monthly basis, in a volunteer capacity that expresses his/her gifts, talents, and passions.

  • Before filling out the application, please click here for the Character Reference Form. Print it and ask a leader in your church, or someone outside your family to complete. Please mail the completed form to the High Impact Volunteer Department at 1100 E. 11th St. KCMO 64106, or fax it to James Smith at 816-329-1453.

CORE Volunteers

When you want to serve but don’t know where or how long, serve as a CORE Volunteer and get to the heart of the Mission.

Individuals or groups serve one-time, for short periods, once a month, a quarter, or once a year--your choice. Services provided are critical to the overall ministry of the Mission. You won’t believe how blessed you will be to be part of this dynamic ministry!

To get started, please choose and complete the CORE application that fits your need:

Circle of Friends

Would you like to participate in a Christian Community group established to help City Union Mission complete various projects? The Circle of Friends could be what you are looking for.

 

Northland Circle of Friends

It's new....it's exciting....you're welcome....bring a friend!

 

What:  

 

Northland Circle of Friends is a Christian community group created by City Union Mission for the purpose of completing projects for the Mission. A network of such groups exist throughout the Kansas City Metro area, giving men and women the opportunity to serve close to home.
Where:      

Northside Christian Church, Fellowship Hall
5114 NW Old Pike Road
Gladstone, MO 64118
When:  

The first Tuesday of the month (except July and August)
9:00am -- 12:00pm
Who:  

Men and women who are available weekdays join with Christian brothers and sisters from other Northland churches.
Why:   There are many projects to be done, and too few hands to do them. Completed projects will assist in meeting the needs of our clients.

 

 

Raytown Circle of Friends

Do you belong to a church in the Raytown area? We are looking for a church to host a group of people with a heart for the mission each month as a new Circle of Friends like the Northland Circle of Friends. We are also looking for people who would like to participate in this ministry.
