Girl Scout Earns Her Silver Award by Helping the Mission
Mission News
Tori (pictured center) of Girl Scout Troop #5225 wanted to do something for her Silver Award that would help other people. So, she contacted the City Union Mission and decided to collect toilet paper. She then went to her church and handed out fliers before service.
Sparked by Tori's idea, Shiloh, a family friend, thought of a way she could also help. Shiloh was planning a Christmas breakfast for the residents in a retirement community and thought she and Tori could combine efforts. Shiloh named the event 'Pancakes with a Purpose' and gave the residents an opportunity to donate toilet paper for the Mission.
On the morning of the breakfast, Volunteer Coordinator Tammy Sharp and Church Relations Specialist Dennis Ellis came to help set up. Together, Tori and Shiloh collected 837 rolls of TP for the Mission
