Crossroad 5k To Benefit City Union Mission

What: Third annual CrossRoad 5K Walk/Run benefit for City Union Mission, dedicated to the memory of John Vinyard, a compassionate giver to Kansas City's homeless.
Who: The CrossRoad 5K team is encouraging walkers and runners throughout the Kansas City area to “put their soles into helping the homeless.”
When: Sunday, April 17, 2005
On-site registration is from 6:45 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.; walk/run starts at 8:00 a.m.; kid’s quarter mile starts at 9:10 a.m.; awards are at 9:30 a.m.
Where: Corporate Woods, located at College Blvd. and Antioch Rd., Overland Park, KS, Building 40
How: Registration is $25; you can register on-site day of event

Shoe Tree: Everyone is also encouraged to contribute to the first-ever Tennis Shoe Tree for City Union Mission.   New or “gently worn” men’s, women’s, and children’s tennis shoes that are donated will go to homeless individuals in Kansas City.   Bring shoes to the event, or drop them off, now through April 16, at Smoothie King, located at the northwest corner of 135th and Quivira, or at New Balance, on 119th Street, east of Metcalf.

All walkers and runners will receive free t-shirts while supplies last.

Sponsors and contributors include Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Smoothie King, Great Harvest Bread, Midland Adventist Academy, New Haven SDA Church, Community Covenant Church, Westside Family Church, Mardel Christian and Educational Supply, New Balance, Timeless Images, Kansas City Power & Light, 1030 The Light, Calvary 88.5, Road ID, Roberts Dairy, Think Fit Foundation, Dick's Sporting Goods, Hen House, Honey-Wagon Plumbing and Septic Service, and Hy-Vee.

The Mission has been restoring hope to Kansas City's poor and homeless for over 82 years. Last year, City Union Mission provided almost 292,000 meals for the hungry and over 127,000 beds for the weary.
