(Kansas City, MO. September 2006) This year a web banquet kicked off City Union Mission’s Celebrate Hope Campaign, an annual effort to raise nearly $3 million, half of its annual budget. The campaign ends January 15, 2007.  

Dennis Chapman, Executive Associate Director of Development, said, “ The web banquet is a unique way to share what is happening at City Union Mission without the escalating costs of hosting a banquet at an area hotel.  We want to be able to use more of the resources we receive to help the poor and homeless.  This will allow us to do just that.  Our goal for the web banquet was $50,000.  With over 200 participating we raised $40.000!”

During the week of September 18th through the 22nd people could join us, either by calling (816) 222-5091, or by going to our website for banquet highlights.  We shared the same quality content as in past years, including testimonies, ministry updates, and award recipients, but without the added expense of renting a location, and the associated speaker and audiovisual costs.  It was something new for us to try; a new way for the community to provide hope to Kansas City's poor and homeless without additional unnecessary expense. 

Funds received during CELEBRATE HOPE will assist City Union Mission in providing food, shelter, case management, counseling, education, and training to homeless and poor men, women, and children 365 days a year.
