When Sonia visited our web site she wrote in our Guest Book about what City Union Mission did for her family.
Sonia writes, “Many years ago my cousin, Scott Shepherd, found himself homeless and ended up at City Union Mission. Through your work he came to know and enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ. His changed life brought him back in contact with family, but not before one of your staff members alerted his mother about having his leg checked for an abnormal growth. Sadly, that growth turned out to be bone cancer and his leg had to be amputated. He lost his battle for life, but not before witnessing to his mother, father and myself. It was after his funeral that I began thinking on what Scottie had shared with me about Jesus. Thus began my journey and quest to know this same Christ. I’m sad he didn't know of my decision before he died. At the same time I am filled with joy knowing that I will be able to tell Scottie when I see him again that his witness led me to accept Christ three years later in 1985. Those humble beginnings at City Union Mission led to the salvation of many from Scottie's family.”
