| City Union Mission Receives Largest Grant from MO Housing Development |

 The Kansas City Business Journal reported Monday, December 18, 2007, that the Missouri Housing Development Commission issued $1.2 million of grants, from the Commission’s Missouri Housing Trust Fund. The grants went to twenty-four Kansas City area agencies, with City Union Mission receiving the largest, in the amount of $200,000.
The Missouri Housing Development Commission administers the Missouri Housing Trust Fund. Their mission is to increase affordable housing opportunities and homelessness assistance for very low-income families.
Dan Doty, Executive Director of City Union Mission remarked, “We are certainly grateful for their consideration. Currently we are in the middle of a Capital Campaign to raise $12 million in order to address the critical and growing need for adequate, dignified emergency and long-term shelter for men. Our plans include a new facility that will house 100 men in our long-term recovery program. Currently there is room for only 50. Renovations to our existing Men’s Shelter will more than double capacity for emergency Men’s Shelter services from 140 to 300 men. And besides all that it will help us provide critical “infrastructure” improvements to our Family Shelter and Camp in Warsaw, MO. ”
