Childrens' Hearts Move Them to Action
Children From Local Christian School Want to Help Meet Needs Too
December 22, 2006

Matthew 25: 35,36 & 40 (NIV)
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'”

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

The children at Harrisonville Christian School, located in Harrisonville, Missouri, donated $237 to City Union Mission's General Fund to help with operations in 2007.

“Our kids decided to have a pumpkin bread sale with all proceeds going to the Mission. It was great fun! The preschool and kindergarten classes made sure everything ran smoothly. All our children really have a heart for City Union Mission and want to be able to help it grow so the Mission can meet the needs of those who are homeless or living in poverty. Even the young ones understand. They really do take Matthew 25 to heart." said Richard Van Aalsburg, principal of the school.

Adam Mosser, Church Relations Specialist, accepted the check on behalf of the Mission in December.

"These wonderful children have provided the perfect example of how we, as Christians, need to help, and witness, to those who are less fortunate in our community.  How else can they understand the love and grace of Jesus Christ unless we show them personally? I want to thank Harrisonville Christian School for what they have done in helping City Union Mission continue to reach out to the poor and homeless in Kansas City.  When Christians work together for God's Kingdom it is so encouraging."
