School will be here before we know it. And school supply lists seem to get longer each year. “It’s especially a struggle for low income families,” says Dan Doty, Executive Director of City Union Mission. “Kids need to have the right tools to succeed in school. Having new schools supplies on the first day of school gives kids a confidence they don’t have when they are either missing items or have to bring used school supplies. Providing these students with the right tools allows them to come to school and focus completely on their school work.”
During the 94.9 KCMO Stuff the Bus school supply drive, you can help collect supplies for about 2,000 homeless and low-income children. Robin Mills, account representative with KCMO, said, “We are so excited about this drive because it represents a tremendous need in the community. And this year we’re pleased to announce that Wal-Mart has joined us.”
"Stuff the Bus” ensures that kids from needy families, who have been income-qualified, have a backpack filled with the tools they need to succeed in school. For a list of needed supplies, please click here.
