“We noticed that since we have had the Church Ambassador program there has been better communication between the Mission and the churches, and that the churches are more engaged with us.  We thought it would be good to try the same thing with the media community.  So, Jim, morning News Anchor with 710 KCMO Talk radio, is our first Media Ambassador.  He is our liaison with his station,” reports Karen Housholder, Media Specialist.

“Jim has been in broadcasting since 1983 and had been recognized by the Associated Press and the Kansas Association of Broadcasters several times for his work.  We are so grateful that he is using his gifts on behalf of the poor and homeless.  Whenever he talks about the mission it’s with tremendous passion.” 

Media Ambassadors help to open the lines of communication.  They create and build media partnerships with City Union Mission to better meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the poor and homeless in Kansas City. 

Jim is helping to educate his station and his listeners about City Union Mission through speaking engagements, both on-air and off.  He is promoting his station’s involvement in City Union Mission events, drives, volunteer opportunities and funding.  

Jim says, “This is just so natural for me.  It’s close to my heart.  I love everything about the mission.  Whenever I’m there or speaking on their behalf I’m the one who gets blessed.  There are so many ways you can be a part of helping to put the pieces of broken lives back together, whatever your gifts or talents are.  I would encourage you to find out how you can be blessed by being a blessing to this ministry.”
