Sunday, April 6 Midland Adventist Academy hosted the 6th annual CrossRoad 5K walk/run as a benefit for the homeless and poor of Kansas City. All proceeds go to City Union Mission. This year 375 participants “put their soles into helping the homeless,” raising over $11,000 for City Union Mission.
Karen Whitson, coordinator of the event, said, “We put this event on to give back to others for the many blessings we have received. City Union Mission is such a blessing to the poor and homeless in Kansas City. We are so thankful to all of the sponsors and volunteers who work together to make this event happen every year.” This year 70 came out to help with the event.
Everyone was also encouraged to donate new or “gently worn” men’s, women’s, and children’s tennis shoes for City Union Mission’s clients. Almost 70 pairs were donated.
