Men’s Shelter Infirmary
The Men's Shelter, at 1108 East 10th St., offers a six-bed infirmary for free convalescent care in K.C. for homeless men recovering from injury and illness.
To be eligible for infirmary placement, patients need to be completely independent with activities of daily living, mobility (including climbing stairs), dressing changes, etc. No direct bedside care is provided. Patients are required to check in with Medical Services on a daily basis.
Infirmary residents are allowed to stay inside around the clock.
To request placement in the infirmary, please call 816-474-9380, ext.1465. City Union Mission’s nurse is not on duty on the weekends. In the event you need help at that time, please ask to speak with a Chaplain or Shelter Manager to get authorization for placement.
Get Involved
Medical Services often has a need for volunteers to help with direct client care, transportation assistance for medical appointments, health care teachers, fitness instructors, etc. Please see the Volunteer Center for current available positions in Medical Services.
